BASH ON CAMPUS: LIFE IS LIFE

We just got back from the big 40th anniversary bash on campus where we were at an OPUS concert. OPUS is apparently a very famous 80s band from Austria- everybody 40 and over was very excited about them performing and everyone under that age was tolerating it- :) They kept telling us, "Ven you hear the song, Life is Life- you'll know the group because it vas internationally famous!--- you know it right?" We're like- 'um-no...' OH VELL you VILL! They actually were pretty good! I liked them! (But remember where I fit in that age bracket)- and interestingly enough, all their songs were in English! They'd talk in German between numbers and then sing in English. In fact my students told me the other day that most of the music they listen to is in English- and that Katy Perry is at the top of the charts with Lady Gaga in Austria too- I asked them if they understood all the words and they said, "no- not all- but it doesn't matter"- Just so interesting pulling out all these differences. Well in the end we never heard Life is Life because smoke is smoke really started to get the best of me- the later it got the more the smoke- I would say they were a lot like the band "Heart" or maybe some shades of "Fleetwood Mac"- We got a ride home to Krumpendorf with a young guy who just started in my department here named Anton- Oddly enough, of the group we were with I am the only one who has to get up for work tomorrow :)
