FAKE DAVID

And yeah, as you can probably guess, Florence is STATUE HEAVEN! I won’t bore you with the 100+ pictures I took of other statues that were scattered throughout the parts of Florence where we walked today- but I do have to share this brilliant blue sky against one of the “fake” David’s in Florence.

You are probably aware of Michelangelo’s famous statue of “David”- and tomorrow we are going to see THE REAL ONE! Its in the Accademia museum which is conveniently about a block from our hotel- Of course being a statue freak- that’s my #1 reason for the stop in Florence. But since Florence is the home of Michelangelo, they also have this statue of David outside, in the exact spot where the real statue of David stood until the late 1800s when it was moved indoors for protection. Then there is another GIANT statue of David in a park south of town, and of course we’re going to hit that tomorrow.
