PONTIUS PILATE HOUSE

I tell you something equally as humbling and amazing- DIRECTLY kitty-corner from the cathedral where the shroud is, stands this monolithic structure which is said to be remains of the home of Pontius Pilate who locals say fled to Torino upon his removal in Judea following Christ's crucifiction. There are Roman ruins all about this place and there are two status of previous Caesars on either side of this edifice. Again, you stand there on the church steps looking across the grassy area and you think, the Romans, Pontius Pilate- all their lofty Gods of the Sun and Water, just a dusty piece of history- and across the street- millions of people lining up to see Jesus' burial cloth. Pretty much sums it all up. The picture of Carol Lee above is in one of those arches you see in the building in the distance. The one of me is in front of one of the Caesar statues.
