THE OTHER TOMB

Just a note- this isn't Michelangelos tomb here- This belongs to one of the Popes- and was done BY Michelangelo. Michelangelo's tomb is the last one on the bottom here.





The other tomb was right across the church nave from Galileos and it belongs to none other than Michelangelo! Turns out that is his FIRST name- his full name is really Michelangelo Buonarroti! Here's a shot of his final resting place. You notice his tomb is kind of up in the air a little- each of those sculptures were made by some other artist and the painting was done by someone as well. You know its a nice tribute and everything, but for a guy who is immortal for works like these, you just kind of what expect to have more drama with his tomb--

Its humbling and exhausting to think that we had the privilege of actually seeing first hand all these pieces in the last few days of our lives--
