This is a close up shot of the basement of the Colosseum floor. 2,000 years ago (when it was built) this was all covered with a floor of course- and these are the passageways where they kept the animals that were used in the slaughters- and also passageways where the gladiators waited- and the people who were kidnapped and then put to death for sport- what a weird society.
